Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe (Iced, Under 5 Minutes)

The drink everyone's ordering

The strawberry matcha latte — layers of pink strawberry, creamy milk, and vibrant green matcha — is one of the most popular café drinks right now, and it's easy to make at home for a fraction of the price. Here's how.

Ingredients (1 glass)

  • Matcha: 2g (about 1 teaspoon) ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • Hot water: 60ml at 80°C
  • Strawberries: 4–5 fresh (or 3 tablespoons strawberry purée)
  • Sweetener: 1–2 teaspoons honey or sugar, to taste
  • Milk: 180ml (dairy, oat, or your choice)
  • Ice: a handful

How to make it

1. Make the strawberry layer. Mash the strawberries with the sweetener until saucy (leave a few chunks for texture). Spoon into the bottom of your glass.

2. Add ice and milk. Fill the glass with ice, then pour in the cold milk.

3. Whisk the matcha. Sift 2g matcha into a bowl, add 60ml hot water (80°C, not boiling), and whisk in a brisk W-motion until smooth and frothy. A good matcha powder makes all the difference here — bright green, no bitterness.

4. Pour and serve. Slowly pour the matcha over the back of a spoon so it floats on top for that layered look. Stir before drinking.

Tips for the best strawberry matcha latte

  • Use ceremonial grade matcha. Culinary grade turns muddy and bitter under milk and sweetness. Ceremonial grade stays vivid green and smooth. If you're new to it, start with our beginner's guide.
  • Never use boiling water. Around 80°C keeps the matcha sweet — boiling water scorches it and makes it bitter.
  • Always sift to avoid clumps.
  • Want it sweeter or fruitier? Add a splash of strawberry syrup, or blend the strawberries for a smoother purée.

Variations

  • Hot version: skip the ice and use warm milk.
  • Vegan: oat milk pairs beautifully with strawberry and matcha.
  • Classic matcha latte: no strawberry — see our matcha latte recipe.

Made with real first-harvest ceremonial matcha, a homemade strawberry matcha latte tastes better than most cafés — and you know exactly what's in it.
